This analogy is faulty in several ways:
- The problems of the banks were well documented and understood. The climate is a chaotic system that nobody really understands.
- The solution to the banks was pretty straight forward. The solution for a misbehaving chaotic system is a lot less clear. Also, the proposed solution, to stop burning fossil fuels, is incredibly expensive. As in “kill most of the humans on the face of the planet” expensive.
There is also a wholly misleading half truth here that the Republicans were the ones to bail out the banks. It was actually a bipartisan effort / looting of the government’s purse.
