Unexamined Assumption about Energy

There are two issues here:

1. Are wind and sun viable alternatives to oil? For example, can we transfer energy as quickly into a car as we do with oil?
2. Are wind and sun really ecological damage free? Birds disagree. The storage required for inconstant sources of energy has an environmental cost.
